Snow yesterday -- mud today. Somebody remind me about "the rule"?

OK, "The Rule" was put into place a long time ago when there were lots of folks on here. For some reason, having a high post count supposedly made a guy cool or something. So, threads that were completey usless were started and guys would go back and forth for hours about nothing at all. There was all kinds of banter, you should go waaayy back into the archives and check some of it out. Well, some guys ( OK, all of us ) would respond to a post with smiley faces ( Emoto-contraptions I think they are called ) alone. Somewhere along the line, someone cried foul about running up post counts with stupid cartoon faces alone. Then someone stepped in, may have been Cliff himself for all I know, and said bullshit on the posts with no words at all. "The Rule" was created. It said that if you are gonna post, ya' gotta at least add words.

Then it got really crazy. Guys would simply put up several stupid cartoon faces, and follow it up with "The Rule". This all happened long ago before social media and internet scouting, when guys on here talked frequently, became friends and eventually drank a lot of beers together.

Now, aren't you glad you asked about "The Rule"?

Glad to see you still alive Ken! I saw the old thread up on the regular boards, wow that one was brought back from the dead!

Do you still make calls? I wish I'd have bought one 10 years ago.

I'm in the same boat. Rarely post anymore. But that's the same across all the message boards. Honestly, folks just aren't that active like they were 5-10 years ago. Think Facebook is to blame?? Or people are just gun shy from getting lambasted every time they posted a picture of a dead hen? Interesting to ponder...

I've thought for a long time that social media killed this site. I don't personally have a Facebook account, and won't be getting one either. Seems to me that Facebook is just another place for shit slinging. The same type of shit slinging that was going on in most fourms ( not so much here, Cliff kept a close eye on that ).

I really miss the old days from here. Made lots of friends, many of which I keep in touch with still to this day. I don't miss all the internet scouting, but then again, I don't hunt near as much as I used to either.
